The Williamsburg Police Department begins to provide food and toys to families in need

Williamsburg, Virginia-The Williamsburg Police Department has officially launched their second year of Stuff the Cruiser Food Drive.

The department started food activities on Friday at Aldi, 1504 Richmond Road. They will continue to carry out food activities and ask the community to donate non-perishable food.

They will collect donations at Food Lion at 1234 Richmond Road from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday.

These foods will be distributed to families in need before Thanksgiving.

This is the second consecutive year that the department has held Stuff the Cruiser activities. Last year, they filled up four cars with donations.

This year, the department also encouraged donations for pets on behalf of the Heritage Humane Society.

• Canned food for kittens, cats, puppies and dogs • Cat litter • Snacks for cats and dogs • Toys for cats and dogs • Antibacterial hand sanitizer

Beginning on Thanksgiving weekend, Williamsburg Police will work with the Department of Public Service to begin the sixth annual toy drive.

Accept unpackaged toys and monetary donations on the following dates and locations:

• 9 am to 2 pm, Friday, November 26: Marshalls, 1252 Richmond Road

• Saturday, November 27, 9 am to 2 pm: Kimball Theater, 428 W. Duke of Gloucester St.

• Saturday, December 4, 10 am to 2 pm: Walgreens, 1309 Richmond Road

• Saturday, December 11, 11 am to 3 pm: Williamsburg Christmas Market, P6 parking lot (300 block Francis Street)

Donations can also be made at the Department of Public Services at 401 Lafayette Street or the Williamsburg Police Department at 425 Amistad Avenue.
