Christmas is such a magical time of the year. It is also a time to spend time with family and friends. Of course, we must count our blessings.

When I was growing up, I had 8 brothers and sisters, we didn't have many, but my mother made sure we had gifts to open on Christmas morning.

When I grew up, I asked her how she did it, and she replied that instead of buying expensive gifts, it is better to buy cheap gifts, so we have more things to open. She also taught us that it is about giving and not accepting. Since then I will not change anything.

That's why I like events like this. The Lansing Police Department and Fire Department are doing a cool thing for the children in the community. This is a toy giveaway on Tuesday, December 14. All children are welcome, regardless of their age. They will get a free Christmas toy.

According to fox47news.com, all of this is due to a donation from First Responders Children's Foundation. About 500 toys will be distributed to boys and girls, including dolls and toy cars.

We are also working with the Greater Lansing Food Bank to provide boxed food to families who need additional help during this period," said Anthony J. Vande Voorde, an officer in the Community Services Department of the Lansing Police Department.

This warmed our hearts and really brought out the spirit of the holiday. The toy giveaway will be held at the Lansing Police Operations Center, 5815 Wise Road, Lansing, from 4 pm to 6 pm. No registration is required.

This should inspire all of us to give back to this holiday and make it the best Christmas ever.

This is another way to spend this holiday with the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
